About the Artist
After completing my BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design and Illustration at Norwich School of Art, Norfolk, I gained my Graduate Diploma in Painting at the Royal Academy School of Art, London.
Presently, I am a Commissioning Portrait Painter and Old Master Copyist, working in Windsor, Berkshire. As part of my work, I also study and copy paintings at the National Gallery, London, where I collate information to help me with private commissions of Old Master copies and portraits.
I have exhibited work in various exhibitions, including the Sunday Times Water Colour Exhibition, the Cable & Wireless Exhibition, London and the Royal Academy Summer Show, amongst others. I have exhibited a one man show of portraits in 1999 at Beningborough Hall in York, and in 2001, a one man exhibition of landscapes, at the Windsor Arts Centre. I have also exhibited in the BP Portait Award Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London.
I have won a number of awards and prizes for my art, including the Vincent Harris Prize for Mural Painting and the Arthur Hacker Prize for Portaiture in 1994/95. I have also received the Bayer Earth Art Prize for painting at the Mall Galleries, London, The Cromwell Hospital Award, London and the Band and Dooley Prize for Anatomical Drawing.
